author biography

Margaret Barnes

Margaret as an author and artist has had an interesting career. She trained as a librarian on a government grant in Sydney and then worked in the design section of a Tasmanian textile firm.

As a mature age student she qualified with a Fine Arts diploma and became a registered teacher. During this procedure she won an Arts Purchase Exhibition prize in 1974 and went on be a finalist in the Portia Geach contest in 1977. Her art is represented in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

Margaret wrote and illustrated Jean Jellybean for her own children and was invited by Maygog Publishing in 2004 to publish this great little book for children with its bees and flowers and chameleon-like jelly beans.
