Cherrie was born and educated in Hobart. After qualifying
in nursing, she moved interstate to work. She then travelled
and worked overseas in various countries and lived in Papua
New Guinea and Tuvalu for a while before settling in Western
Australia in 1981.
Cherrie s varied life included studying Art at Paddington
Art School, Sydney and completing her Diploma of Arts at
Midland College in Western Australia. She has exhibited in
Japan and has won prestigious art awards in Australia. There
are representations of her work in public and private collections
and galleries, by the Shires of Kalamunda and Northam in
Western Australia and by the Department of Minerals and Energy,
Government of WA. Her work has also been published in the
Artist s Palette. Cherrie has held solo exhibitions
in Tasmania and Western Australia depicting the wonderful
diversity of our native birdlife.
In what is now her life work, this talented artist spends
time travelling in Australia and overseas taking photographs
of birds and their environment, amazed at their different
personalities and characteristics every bird an individual never
ceasing to astound.
