Colin Campbell Lawrence (1908 - 1992) was born in Devonport,
Tasmania, graduated in Commerce at the University of Tasmania
and taught in Melbourne, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart.
He was a house-master at Trinity College, Melbourne for some
years and finished his career as Senior Master in Geography
at Hobart Matriculation College. Colin was an all rounder.
He played Australian Rules football with Glenorchy and Collingwood,
ran in foot races and walked extensively in Tasmania, furthering
his interest in bird life and nature in general.
With a lifelong passion for learning anything and everything,
Colin was able to inspire his students to do well in exams.
His record in this regard was impressive. Renowned for
maintaining tight class discipline, he would take
endless trouble with
a disadvantaged yet worthwhile student.
Known affectionately as CC, Colin was conscientious in
his chosen career while being constitutionally unable
to gainsay
the urge to go out and see what was on the wing.
